Three Sixes Rule in Ludo

In Ludo, rolling three 6s in a row is a penalty rule designed to prevent a single player from dominating the board through lucky streaks.

In **Ludo**, rolling three 6s in a row is a penalty rule designed to prevent a single player from dominating the board through lucky streaks.

1. How the Three Sixes Rule Works

When you roll the die in Ludo, rolling a **6** earns you a bonus turn. However, the sequence of consecutive rolls dictates the outcome:

```
[ Roll 1: Six ] ──► Earns Bonus Roll
│
▼
[ Roll 2: Six ] ──► Earns Second Bonus Roll
│
▼
[ Roll 3: Six ] ──► PENALTY: Sequence Invalidated!
(Turn ends immediately; zero moves counted)
```

1. **First 6:** You get to make a 6-space move (or unlock a token from your yard) and roll again.
2. **Second 6:** You make another 6-space move and roll again.
3. **Third 6 (The Cancel):** If your third consecutive roll is also a **6**, **your entire turn is canceled**. Any moves you made during that turn are undone (or the turn simply stops before the third 6 can be used, depending on the digital platform), and control immediately passes to the next player.

2. Platform Variations: Physical vs. Digital (Ludo King)

While the core rule exists across almost all variations of Ludo, digital implementations handle the sequence cancellation slightly differently than traditional board games:

* **Traditional / Physical Board Game Rules:** In physical Ludo, the penalty typically applies to the **third 6 only**. You keep the moves made from your first two 6s, but the third 6 is forfeited, and your turn ends without making a third move or receiving another roll.
* **Ludo King (Digital Rules):** If you roll three 6s consecutively in *Ludo King*, the **entire turn is invalidated**. The game immediately skips your turn, forfeits all three dice rolls from that round, and passes the die to the next player in rotation.

---

3. Strategic Considerations

* **Managing High-Streak Luck:** Because a third 6 wipes out your action, experienced digital Ludo players use their first two 6s to move high-risk tokens into safe spots (like star spaces) rather than holding out for a massive three-roll combo.
* **Extra Rolls vs. Three 6s:** Capturing an opponent token or landing a token inside the home triangle also grants bonus rolls. These bonus rolls **do not count toward the consecutive 6-roll penalty count**—only actual dice faces showing a 6 trigger the tracking rule.
