Start with the selected instructions
A two-player session and a four-player session can use the same board, but the chosen format still needs clear setup and turn-order instructions. Do not assume partnership rules without agreeing them.
Two-player learning session
Keep a simple turn note while you learn. Pause for a rule question without changing the layout, then resume once both players understand the answer.
Four-player learning session
Introduce each colour and identify the next player before starting. Make sure a new learner can see the board and ask questions comfortably.
Before the next game
Review which conventions you used and which questions remain. Keep a short written agreement instead of changing a convention halfway through a session.
